Hudson Odoi ends Anfield drought
On this day in 2024 Forest win at Anfield for the first time since 1969.
Nottingham Forest ended a 55-year wait for a league win at Anfield with a 1-0 victory over Liverpool.
The Premier League match was settled by Callum Hudson-Odoi, who came off the bench and scored the decisive goal in the second half. Anthony Elanga carried the break forward and found Hudson-Odoi, who cut inside from the left before curling a right-footed shot beyond Alisson.
Forest had to defend with discipline against a Liverpool side that controlled much of the ball. Matz Sels made important saves, and Nuno Espírito Santo’s substitutions gave Forest the speed and composure they needed to threaten on the counter.
The result was one of Forest’s strongest away wins since returning to the Premier League. It also gave Liverpool manager Arne Slot his first defeat in English football and confirmed Forest’s first league win at Anfield since 1969.
