Nottingham Forest ended the year with a memorable City Ground win, beating Manchester United 2–1 in the Premier League.

The first half was tight, but Forest grew into the match and took the lead in the 64th minute. A patient move found Gonzalo Montiel on the right, and his cross was finished first time by Nicolás Domínguez.

United equalised through Marcus Rashford after Matt Turner’s poor pass out was intercepted by Alejandro Garnacho. Forest responded four minutes later with the moment supporters remember most: Garnacho’s long-range shot forced Turner into a save, Forest cleared the danger, and Gibbs-White soon came onto Anthony Elanga’s pass to fire past André Onana from the edge of the box.

The goal gave Nuno Espírito Santo a second straight league win soon after taking charge and moved Forest five points clear of the relegation zone. Forest still had to battle through a points deduction later in the season, but they eventually secured Premier League safety on the final day, making this win part of the survival story.
