Nottingham Forest completed the signing of Brazilian defender Murillo from Corinthians on a five-year contract.

The move came on transfer deadline day, with Forest adding a young centre-back who had only recently broken through at senior level in Brazil. The fee was undisclosed by the club, but was widely reported at around £11.2m plus add-ons.

Murillo arrived as a long-term signing rather than a short-term fix. He made his Forest debut against Brentford in October 2023 and quickly began to show the calmness, passing range, and defensive strength that made him stand out.

The signing aged well quickly. Murillo became one of Forest’s most important defenders and later earned a new long-term contract, turning what had looked like a promising deadline-day addition into a major piece of the club’s Premier League squad. For a club still trying to strengthen its Premier League base, the move also showed the value Forest were beginning to place on younger defenders with resale potential as well as immediate first-team quality.
