On this day in 2010 Forest lose the first leg of the play-off semi-final at Blackpool.
Nottingham Forest lost 2-1 away to Blackpool in the first leg of the Championship play-off semi-final at Bloomfield Road.
Forest arrived after an excellent league campaign, and Chris Cohen gave them the start they wanted with an early goal after 13 minutes. For a side carrying promotion hopes into the play-offs, that moment briefly made the evening feel under control.
Blackpool responded with energy and confidence on their own ground, turning the match around before the final whistle. The defeat left Forest still alive in the tie, but no longer in command of it.
The home side took a 2-1 lead to the City Ground, changing the mood of the semi-final. Forest had shown they could hurt Blackpool, but the first leg ended with the advantage against them and the pressure pushed firmly onto the return match. Blackpool won the second leg 4–3 and took the tie 6–4 on aggregate, ending Forest’s promotion hopes.
