Pearce winner at QPR
On this day in 1990 Stuart Pearce scores the winner as Forest beat Queens Park Rangers 2–1 at Loftus Road.
Nottingham Forest earned a useful First Division away win at Loftus Road, beating Queens Park Rangers 2-1 in a match that gave Brian Clough’s side a solid December lift.
Nigel Clough put Forest in front after half-time, but QPR replied through Roy Wegerle from the penalty spot. The decisive moment then came when Stuart Pearce scored Forest’s second, restoring the lead and leaving Rangers chasing again.
The scorers gave Forest different kinds of threat. Clough brought craft in attacking areas, while Pearce added the power and directness from defence that made him such a valuable weapon in tight games.
The result belonged to a season in which Forest remained competitive on several fronts. It was not the campaign’s defining afternoon, but it was the kind of away result that helped keep momentum and belief in the side.
