Spurs end FA Cup run
On this day in 1967 Forest’s FA Cup run ends against Tottenham at Hillsborough.
Nottingham Forest’s 1967 FA Cup run ended with a 2-1 semi-final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Hillsborough.
Forest had put together a strong cup campaign, but the semi-final brought the disappointment that comes with falling one match short of Wembley. Tottenham built a two-goal lead, leaving Forest with too much to repair late in the game.
Terry Hennessey gave Forest hope with a late header from a corner, the ball striking the underside of the bar before going in. It made the closing stages more uncomfortable for Spurs, but Forest could not find the equaliser needed to force another chance.
For supporters, the day carried the pain of a missed final. The cup run had been memorable, but Hillsborough became the place where it ended, with Tottenham moving on and Forest left with frustration.
