Dyche earns first Premier League win
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 2025 Forest beat Leeds United 3–1 to give Sean Dyche his first Premier League win as head coach.
Nottingham Forest found a badly needed league win by coming from behind to beat Leeds United 3–1 at the City Ground.
Leeds had gone in front through Lukas Nmecha inside the opening quarter-hour, but Forest responded quickly through Ibrahim Sangaré, whose equaliser settled the afternoon before anxiety could take over. In the second half, Morgan Gibbs-White headed in from Omari Hutchinson’s cross, and Elliot Anderson sealed the result with a late penalty.
The win gave Sean Dyche his first Premier League victory as Forest head coach. It also ended a long winless league run and offered the first clear sign that his early changes had given the side more resilience.
Forest were still deep in trouble, but the 3–1 scoreline altered the mood around the City Ground. Dyche spoke afterwards about mentality, and the match gave supporters a simple, useful feeling after weeks of pressure: a comeback, three goals, and a first league win under the new manager.
