Old Trafford 30 year drought ended
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 2024 Forest beat Manchester United 3–2 at Old Trafford for their first win there since 1994.
Forest ended three decades of waiting at Old Trafford by beating Manchester United 3-2 in the Premier League.
Nikola Milenković gave Forest the perfect start, heading in from a corner after just two minutes. United equalised through Rasmus Højlund, who pounced on a rebound after Alejandro Garnacho’s shot was saved.
The second half quickly turned back Forest’s way. Morgan Gibbs-White fired in from outside the area soon after the restart, then Chris Wood scored the decisive third when he met Morgan Gibbs-White’s cross and sent a looping header over André Onana and into the net.
Bruno Fernandes pulled one back for United, but Forest held on through the closing stages. It was Forest’s first win at Old Trafford since 17 December 1994, when Stan Collymore and Stuart Pearce scored in a 2-1 victory under Frank Clark.
For supporters, the afternoon was memorable because the result matched the setting. Old Trafford had been a place of frustration for 30 years, and Nuno Espírito Santo’s side finally left it with a Premier League win.
