Ryan Yates signs long term deal
On this day in 2024 Ryan Yates signs a new long-term Forest deal.
Ryan Yates’ new long-term contract strengthened the bond between Nottingham Forest and one of their own academy graduates.
Yates had come through the club’s system and worked his way into the senior side, becoming a player supporters recognised for commitment, physical presence and loyalty. By the time he signed this four-year deal, he was also club captain, giving the renewal extra meaning beyond an ordinary contract extension.
By this stage, Yates had been part of Forest’s rise back to the Premier League and the fight to stay there. His value was not only in appearances or midfield work, but in the sense of continuity he gave a squad that had changed heavily across several transfer windows.
For fans, the announcement felt like a local link being protected. In an era of rapid recruitment and constant movement, Yates represented something steadier: a player shaped by Forest, trusted with the captaincy, and still pushing to remain part of the club’s top-flight future.
