Women turn full time professional
On this day in 2024 Forest announce the women’s team will go full-time professional.
Nottingham Forest made a major commitment to the women’s team by announcing plans for it to become full-time professional from the 2025-26 season.
The decision marked an important moment in the club’s wider development. It showed that Forest were giving the women’s side a more formal place in the club’s future structure.
For players and staff, full-time status promised a different level of preparation, support and ambition. For supporters, it offered a clearer pathway for the women’s team to grow and compete with stronger resources behind it.
The announcement also fitted the wider rise of women’s football in England. At Forest, it gave the women’s team a sharper sense of direction and made the club’s ambitions easier to measure.
