Moussa Niakhaté left Nottingham Forest for Lyon in a transfer that formed part of an important summer of squad reshaping.

Niakhaté had joined Forest during the major recruitment drive that followed promotion to the Premier League. Injuries interrupted his early time at the club, but he remained part of the group that helped Forest re-establish themselves in the top flight.

His move to Lyon was significant because it was not simply a fringe departure. It involved a player with Premier League experience and international pedigree, and was reported as a major transfer for both clubs.

For supporters, the transfer marked another reminder of how quickly the squad had changed since promotion. Players who had arrived during the return to the Premier League were already becoming part of the club’s recent history.
