Nottingham Forest launched their 2023-24 Fan Engagement Plan at a time when Premier League clubs were being asked to build clearer, more structured relationships with supporters.

The plan followed the Premier League’s newly introduced Fan Engagement Standard, which set expectations around consultation, transparency and regular communication. For Forest, one of the most important elements was the announcement of a Fan Advisory Board, giving supporters a more formal route into club discussion.

This was not a matchday moment, but it mattered because it touched the relationship between the club and its fanbase. Modern supporter culture is shaped not only by results, but by access, trust, ticketing, communication and the feeling that fans have a meaningful voice.

Forest later reviewed the work from that first Premier League-standard fan engagement year, reporting progress against most of the objectives set out in the 2023-24 plan.
