Taiwo Awoniyi extended one of Forest’s strongest modern Premier League scoring runs in a 2-1 win over Sheffield United at the City Ground.

The night mattered because Forest needed a first league win of the new season, but Awoniyi’s goal added a personal milestone. He became the first Forest player since Stan Collymore to score in six consecutive Premier League matches.

Awoniyi gave Forest an early lead, heading in from Serge Aurier’s cross after only a few minutes. Sheffield United later equalised through Gustavo Hamer, and the match became tighter than Forest would have wanted.

Chris Wood settled it late, coming off the bench and heading in Aurier’s cross in the 89th minute. That winner gave Forest three points and turned Awoniyi’s milestone into part of a successful night rather than a footnote in a draw.

The scoring run reflected Awoniyi’s growing importance after his goals had helped Forest survive the previous season. Injuries later interrupted his momentum, but this match captured him in a powerful spell: confident, decisive and central to Forest’s Premier League attack.
