Fans show We Will Conquer Still display

On this day in 2022 supporter group Forza Garibaldi unveiled its We Will Conquer Still display before the play-off semi-final against Sheffield United.

Culture and identity

Supporter folklore

Forza Garibaldi, the Nottingham Forest supporter group known for organising major fan displays, unveiled its We Will Conquer Still display before Forest’s Championship play-off semi-final second leg against Sheffield United.

The display combined Garibaldi imagery with Forest’s past and present, creating a dramatic backdrop for one of the biggest City Ground nights in a generation. It captured the mood of a fanbase that had waited many years for a serious chance of returning to the Premier League.

The match ended 1–2 on the night and 3–3 on aggregate, before Brice Samba saved three penalties in the shootout to send Forest to Wembley. The display became part of the visual memory of a tense, emotional night that helped carry Forest towards the play-off final.
