Nottingham Forest reached Wembley after a chaotic and emotionally draining Championship play-off semi-final against Sheffield United at the City Ground.

Forest carried a 2–1 advantage from the first leg, and Brennan Johnson extended that lead by scoring in the first half of the second leg. Sheffield United fought back after the break, with Morgan Gibbs-White and John Fleck scoring to win the night 2–1 and level the tie at 3–3 on aggregate.

The atmosphere shifted constantly between belief and anxiety. Brice Samba became increasingly important as the match wore on, producing crucial saves while Forest struggled to regain control.

The tie finally swung Forest’s way in the penalty shootout. Samba saved three penalties as Forest won 3–2 on spot kicks, sending the City Ground into eruption and taking the club to Wembley for the Championship play-off final.
