Forest strengthened their promotion push with a 2–0 away win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Steve Cooper’s side were still building momentum after their early-season revival, and Blackburn were also involved near the top end of the Championship. That gave the away win extra weight in the play-off race.

James Garner opened the scoring with a right-footed finish after a Keinan Davis pass, before Brennan Johnson added the second from the penalty spot late on. The goals gave Forest another important result against a side with promotion ambitions of their own.

The win became part of the long climb that carried Forest towards the play-offs and, eventually, Wembley. It was not the final decisive moment of the season, but it belonged to the run of results that turned Cooper’s team from early strugglers into genuine promotion contenders.
