Collymore double sinks Chelsea
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 1995 Stan Collymore scores twice as Forest beat Chelsea 2–0 at Stamford Bridge.
Stan Collymore led Forest to a strong away result in their first Premier League season under Frank Clark, scoring twice in a 2-0 win at Chelsea.
Forest were not just trying to survive after promotion - they were looking up the table. Collymore scored in the 33rd and 54th minutes at Stamford Bridge, turning a difficult away fixture into another clear sign of how well the side had adapted to the Premier League.
The result fitted a season in which Forest stayed much higher than a newly promoted side would usually expect. Forest finished third in the Premier League in 1994-95 and qualified for Europe, with Collymore’s double at Chelsea one of the standout away wins from that campaign.
