Bohinen debut in victory at Birmingham
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 1993 Lars Bohinen makes his Forest debut in a 3–0 win at Birmingham City.
Lars Bohinen made his Forest debut in a 3–0 win away to Birmingham City, a match that quickly came to feel like a turning point in the promotion season.
Forest won at St Andrew’s through a Stan Collymore goal and two from Gary Glover. Bohinen’s arrival added quality and composure to midfield, giving Frank Clark’s side another technical player during a campaign built around immediate recovery after relegation.
The Norwegian had arrived after catching wider attention with Norway, and his debut came at exactly the right moment. Forest went on a long unbeaten run after his introduction and climbed strongly through the First Division table.
Bohinen became a significant part of the side that returned to the Premier League at the first attempt. His debut is remembered not for a goal of his own, but because it marked the beginning of a more fluent, confident Forest team.
