Marrison treble sinks Blackburn
On this day in 1910 Thomas Marrison scores a hat-trick as Forest beat Blackburn Rovers 5–2.
Thomas Marrison gave Forest a scoring performance to remember as Blackburn Rovers were beaten 5–2 at the City Ground in League Division One.
Forest’s goals came from Marrison’s hat-trick, scored in the 40th, 52nd and 85th minutes, with William Hooper and Arthur Morris also on target.
The result came in a high-scoring First Division fixture at a time when Forest were already an established name in the Football League’s top tier. A 5–2 win over Blackburn was a result with weight, but Marrison’s hat-trick is the detail that gives it its place in Forest's history. More than a century later, it is the name attached to the scoreline that still makes the afternoon stand out.
