Glasner Forest's 5th manager in a year
On this day in 2026 Oliver Glasner is appointed as Forest's 5th manager in 12 months.
Nottingham Forest appointed Oliver Glasner as manager on a three-year contract, bringing one of Europe’s most successful managers of recent seasons to the City Ground.
The Austrian arrived with an outstanding record in cup competitions. He had led Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League in 2022 before winning the FA Cup with Crystal Palace in 2025 and the UEFA Conference League the following year.
For Forest supporters, the appointment offered plenty to be excited about. Glasner had already shown that he could organise ambitious teams, inspire memorable European nights and deliver major trophies. His arrival suggested that Forest wanted to keep building rather than simply protect the progress already made.
Glasner became Forest’s fifth manager in just 12 months, following an extraordinary period of change in the City Ground dugout. That turnover made the appointment especially significant, with supporters hoping the club had found a manager who could bring lasting stability while continuing to match its growing ambitions.
Glasner said that the club’s vision, ambition and belief in his coaching staff had convinced him to take the job. Evangelos Marinakis described him as a proven winner, highlighting his leadership, personality and attacking approach to football.
As the first Austrian manager in Forest history, Glasner inherited a club preparing once again for Premier League and European competition. His proven ability to deliver trophies and memorable European runs gave supporters real hope that he could lead Forest into another exciting and successful chapter.
