Nuno rewarded after Europe
On this day in 2025 Nuno Espírito Santo signs a new Forest contract.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s new three-year contract followed one of Forest’s most important modern league campaigns.
After guiding the club to seventh place and European qualification, Nuno was rewarded with a longer commitment. The deal reflected not only results, but the sense that Forest had moved into a different competitive space.
European qualification changed the mood around the club. It gave supporters something beyond survival to look toward and placed Forest back in a conversation that carried clear historical weight.
For a manager, signing a new contract after that kind of season is more than a formal announcement. It signals trust, continuity and a belief that the work can be built on rather than broken up.
Nuno’s deal therefore belonged to a moment of optimism. Forest had finished seventh, earned Europe, and moved into the summer with the manager who had delivered it still in place. Within three months, however, he had been sacked after a difficult start to the new season and a public breakdown in his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis, turning the new contract into a short-lived high point rather than the start of a longer era.
