Win vs Spurs boosts European chase
On this day in 2025 Forest win at Spurs to go third in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest strengthened their unexpected European chase with a 2-1 win away to Tottenham Hotspur.
Forest made a superb start in north London. Elliot Anderson opened the scoring after a corner dropped to him on the edge of the area, his powerful deflected drive finding the net after only five minutes. Chris Wood then doubled the lead with a glancing header from Anthony Elanga’s cross, giving Forest a two-goal platform before the match had properly settled.
Spurs pulled one back late, but Forest held on for a result that lifted them back up to third place. The win mattered because it came at a stage when Forest’s season had grown from survival ambition into something far more ambitious.
Away victories against established top-flight opponents carried extra weight in the race for European qualification. For supporters, the night offered both excitement and disbelief. Forest were not just competing in the upper part of the table; they were winning away at Spurs and strengthening a European push that few would have predicted.
