Chris Wood contract extends stay
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 2025 Chris Wood signs a new Forest contract until the summer of 2027.
Chris Wood’s new contract rewarded one of the most effective striker spells Forest had seen in the Premier League era.
The New Zealand forward committed his future to the club until the summer of 2027, at a time when his goals had become central to Forest’s season. By then, Wood had already scored 14 Premier League goals in the campaign, turning reliable penalty-box finishing into one of the team’s biggest strengths.
The deal also showed how far his Forest story had moved on from the uncertainty of his initial loan from Newcastle United. What had first looked like a short-term solution had become something much more substantial.
Wood gave Forest a focal point, a penalty-area presence and a calm finisher during a campaign that pushed the club high up the table.
For supporters, the contract felt like recognition rather than just administration. A player who had earned trust through goals was staying for the next part of the journey.
