Sels wins Golden Glove (2025)
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 2025 Matz Sels is awarded with a share of the Premier League Golden Glove.
Matz Sels ended Nottingham Forest’s European qualification season by sharing the 2024-25 Premier League Golden Glove with Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.
Both goalkeepers finished with 13 clean sheets, the highest total in the division. For Sels, the award was a major personal landmark and a reflection of how much Forest’s defensive structure had improved during one of the club’s strongest modern league campaigns.
His season was not just about clean sheets. Sels produced important saves throughout the year, including a standout display in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool, when his goalkeeping helped Forest take a point against the eventual champions.
For supporters, the Golden Glove gave individual recognition to a player who had become central to the team’s rise. After years of instability and survival battles, seeing a Forest goalkeeper finish top of a Premier League award table felt like another sign of how far the club had moved forward.
