UNHCR shirt partnership launched
On this day in 2022 Forest launch their UK for UNHCR shirt partnership for the Premier League return.
Nottingham Forest made an unusual and widely noticed shirt decision by launching a charity partnership with UK for UNHCR.
The club announced that the UK for UNHCR logo would appear on the front of the men’s and women’s team shirts from the start of 2023 until the end of the season. Instead of using the space for a conventional commercial sponsor, Forest used it to support the UN Refugee Agency’s work with people forced to flee conflict and persecution.
The partnership also included a financial donation and a wider commitment to raise awareness through the club’s channels. It came during Forest’s first Premier League season back after promotion, giving the message a larger national and international platform.
The shirts were first worn by the men’s team at home to Chelsea on New Year’s Day. For supporters, it became one of the most distinctive visual markers of the club’s return to the top flight.
