Emmanuel Dennis signs from Watford
On this day in 2022 Forest sign Emmanuel Dennis from Watford during the Premier League return transfer window.
Emmanuel Dennis joined Forest from Watford during one of the busiest transfer windows in the club’s modern history.
The signing came as Forest adjusted to life back in the Premier League after promotion under Steve Cooper. The squad had changed rapidly, and Dennis arrived as a forward with recent top-flight experience after scoring 10 Premier League goals for Watford in 2021-22.
His arrival looked like another attempt to add pace, unpredictability and attacking depth to a newly promoted side trying to survive. Forest needed options across the front line, especially with so many new players being asked to settle quickly.
Dennis’s best Forest moments came in flashes rather than a sustained run. He scored in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in October 2022 and later scored against Newcastle United, but he struggled to become a regular starter.
He made 19 Premier League appearances for Forest in 2022-23, scoring twice, before later loan spells away from the club. Forest confirmed in August 2025 that Dennis had left following the mutual termination of his contract. The transfer remains part of that extraordinary promotion-window scramble, when Forest tried to build a Premier League squad almost from scratch.
