NOTTINGHAM FOREST HISTORY
FA Cup win to set up Liverpool tie
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 2022 Forest beat Huddersfield to set up Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Nottingham Forest came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town 2-1 at the City Ground and earn an FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.
The night started badly when Huddersfield took the lead, forcing Forest to chase the game. Steve Cooper’s side had already built momentum in the competition, and the chance to bring Liverpool to the City Ground gave the fifth-round tie an extra edge.
Forest found their response before half-time. Sam Surridge equalised with a right-footed finish after Ryan Yates helped create the chance, and Yates then headed in the decisive goal to turn the match back in Forest’s favour.
The 2-1 win mattered because it continued one of the club’s most enjoyable modern FA Cup campaigns. Huddersfield had threatened to spoil the night, but Forest recovered, won the tie, and gave supporters a quarter-final against Liverpool to anticipate.
