Davis loan boosts promotion push
On this day in 2022 Forest sign Keinan Davis on loan for Steve Cooper’s promotion push.
Keinan Davis arrived from Aston Villa at a moment when Nottingham Forest needed more force and presence in attack.
The loan signing gave Steve Cooper’s side a different type of forward for the second half of the Championship season. Davis was powerful, direct and difficult for defenders to manage, qualities that suited a team growing quickly in confidence after its poor start to the campaign.
He did not arrive as a headline-grabbing superstar, but his impact was easy to understand on the pitch. Davis helped Forest stretch games, hold the ball higher up the field and bring others into play. His loan spell produced important goals and performances across the promotion run, adding depth to a squad that was beginning to believe something special was possible.
Forest’s season ended with promotion through the play-offs, and Davis remained one of the January additions supporters remembered warmly. His spell was short, but it belonged firmly to the surge that carried the club back to the Premier League.
