Joe Worrall signs new contract
On this day in 2020 Joe Worrall signs a new four-year Forest contract.
Joe Worrall signed a new four-year Forest contract after establishing himself as an important first-team defender.
The deal reflected his growing status at the club. Worrall had come through the academy, gone away on loan, returned stronger and become a regular in Sabri Lamouchi’s Championship side. For supporters, his progress carried extra meaning because he was one of their own.
The contract arrived during a season when Forest were pushing for the play-offs, and Worrall’s consistency at centre-back was part of that challenge. He had developed from promising youngster into a senior figure in the squad.
His Forest story continued well beyond the new deal. Worrall later became club captain and was part of the squad that won promotion to the Premier League in 2022. The contract therefore stands as a marker in the rise of an academy graduate who became a central figure in one of the club’s most important modern chapters.
