Forest gave their Championship promotion chase a major lift by beating Leeds United 2–0 at the City Ground.

Sammy Ameobi scored the opening goal in the first half, beating Kiko Casilla with a powerful effort at the goalkeeper’s near post. Tyler Walker then sealed the win in added time, scoring from close range after Leeds had pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

The result carried real weight because Leeds were promotion rivals and would go on to finish as champions. For Forest, it was a result that strengthened belief in Sabri Lamouchi’s side and kept them firmly in the play-off picture.

The season later ended in painful disappointment as Forest missed out on the play-offs on the final day. The Leeds victory remains one of the standout moments of Lamouchi’s campaign: a win over the eventual champions during a serious push for the top six.
