Jason Cummings joins from Hibs
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 2017 Forest sign Jason Cummings from Hibernian on a three-year deal.
Jason Cummings arrived at the City Ground as a 21-year-old striker with a recent record of scoring regularly in Scottish football.
Forest signed him from Hibernian on a three-year deal after he had helped Hibs win the Scottish Championship and return to the top flight. Sky Sports reported the fee as being in excess of £1m and noted that he had scored 23 goals in 39 appearances in the previous season.
The move looked like a clear bet on a young forward who had already produced goals in a promotion-winning side. Forest were looking for attacking options who could give the team more edge in the Championship.
His Forest spell did not become the long-term success supporters hoped for. In his time at Forest he scored four goals in 18 appearances before joining Rangers on loan in January 2018, with the Scottish club holding an option to make the move permanent.
The signing is remembered more as a gamble on a young scorer than as a lasting City Ground success.
