Miracle Men enter Hall of Fame
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 2016 Forest’s double European Cup winners enter the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.
Nottingham Forest’s double European Cup-winning side received formal national recognition when they were inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.
The honour was given to the team built by Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, the side that rose from the Second Division to become English champions and then European champions in successive seasons. Their European Cup wins in 1979 and 1980 remain among the most remarkable achievements in English club football.
The induction ceremony took place in Nottingham, making the recognition feel closely tied to the city as well as the club. John McGovern, the captain of those great sides, described it as an incredible honour for the players.
For Forest supporters, the moment was not about discovering the story again, but seeing it properly placed in the national game’s memory. The team had already lived in club folklore for decades; the Hall of Fame gave that achievement another public marker.
