Fan group Forza Garibaldi begins
On this day in 2016 a supporter-led 150th anniversary walk helped create the roots of supporter group Forza Garibaldi.
A supporter-organised celebration of Nottingham Forest’s 150th anniversary helped create the roots of Forza Garibaldi, the fan group later known for organising displays, flags and atmosphere campaigns at the City Ground.
Supporters gathered at the Orange Tree pub on Shakespeare Street, the site associated with the old Clinton Arms and Forest’s foundation story, before walking from the Brian Clough statue to the City Ground. The event connected the club’s origins, its city-centre heritage and its modern fanbase in a single supporter-led occasion.
That anniversary walk became an important origin point for Forza Garibaldi. The group went on to become a recognised part of Forest supporter culture, producing banners, tifos and matchday displays that helped bring colour, noise and identity to major games.
