Britt Assombalonga arrived from Peterborough United as a statement signing, arriving from Peterborough United for a club-record fee widely reported at around £5.5 million.

The move came before the 2014-15 Championship season, with Forest investing heavily in a striker who had scored freely for Peterborough. Assombalonga signed a five-year deal, and the size of the fee showed the club wanted immediate attacking impact.

He did not take long to make one. Within weeks, he was scoring regularly, including early goals against Bolton Wanderers, Bournemouth, Reading and Derby County. His pace, power and finishing gave Forest a direct threat that supporters quickly warmed to.

The excitement was later interrupted by a serious knee injury in February 2015, which took away much of the momentum from his first season. Even so, Assombalonga still left a strong impression during his time at the City Ground.

He later moved to Middlesbrough in another major deal, but his Forest arrival remained a striking moment: a club-record gamble on goals, ambition and Championship firepower.
