Nottingham Forest produced one of their most satisfying modern derby wins by beating Derby County 5–2 at the City Ground in the Championship.

The tone was set almost immediately. Forest won a corner on the right and Luke Chambers rose to head Radosław Majewski’s delivery past Stephen Bywater after barely two minutes. Derby levelled through Luke Moore, but Forest quickly took control again.

Marcus Tudgay, playing against his former club, scored twice before half-time. First he headed in Robert Earnshaw’s cross, then he met Nathan Tyson’s cross to head home again in stoppage time. After the break, Tyson created another goal when his outside-of-the-foot cross found Earnshaw, who turned the ball in from close range.

Kris Commons pulled one back with a free-kick, but Earnshaw added Forest’s fifth late on. The win lifted Billy Davies’s side to eighth with games in hand and left supporters with a derby scoreline that still stands out years later.
