Player legacies

Individual milestone

Joe Gardner’s birthday marks a Nottingham-born forward who came through Forest’s development pathway.

Gardner joined the club in 2016 at the age of 10 and worked his way through the academy system. By the 2024-25 season, he was part of the Under-21 setup and had begun pushing towards senior football.

That next step came in January 2025, when Gardner joined Lincoln City on loan. The move followed a productive spell for Forest’s Under-21s, with six goals and two assists in 12 Premier League 2 appearances that season.

Mansfield Town later took him on a season-long loan for 2025-26, giving him another chance to gain senior experience. For Forest supporters, the event is not about a famous first-team moment yet. It is about a local academy player moving from youth football into the professional game.
