Pearce penalty seals win at Coventry
On this day in 1987 Forest win 3-0 at Coventry City as Stuart Pearce scores from the penalty spot.
Nottingham Forest earned a convincing 3-0 away win over Coventry City in the First Division, leaving Highfield Road with a clean sheet and three goals.
Terry Wilson gave Forest the lead in the first half, putting Brian Clough’s side in control of the match. The advantage was still narrow for much of the afternoon, but Forest finished strongly after the break.
Franz Carr scored the second before Stuart Pearce completed the win from the penalty spot. The penalty came after Nigel Clough was fouled by Trevor Peake, giving Pearce the chance to make the scoreline emphatic.
For Forest, it was the kind of away result that showed control as well as cutting edge. Wilson, Carr and Pearce all found the net, and the 3-0 scoreline gave the victory a clarity that made it stand out from a demanding league campaign.
