Nottingham Forest took another point in their First Division title run with a 1-1 draw against Leeds United at the City Ground.

Leeds went ahead early from the penalty spot, giving Forest an awkward afternoon during the tense closing weeks of the 1977-78 campaign. Forest answered quickly, with Peter Withe scoring from a Frank Clark assist, finishing left-footed to bring the match level.

A home draw was not as satisfying as a win, but it still kept Forest moving. Leeds were experienced opponents, and the pressure of the run-in meant every point carried weight as the finishing line came closer.

For supporters, the afternoon brought tension rather than release. Withe’s goal prevented defeat, the title chase continued, and Forest remained on course in a season where resilience mattered as much as flair.
