Victory over Tooting fuels cup run
On this day in 1959 Forest beat Tooting & Mitcham United 3–0 in an FA Cup replay during their cup-winning run.
Forest turned a drawn FA Cup third-round tie into a clear replay win, beating Tooting & Mitcham United 3-0 at the City Ground.
The non-league side had already taken Forest to a 2-2 draw at Imperial Fields, so Billy Walker’s team needed the replay to keep their cup run alive. Roy Dwight gave Forest the lead after 30 minutes, Tommy Wilson added a second before half-time, and Stewart Imlach completed the scoring in the final minute.
The replay drew 42,362 at the City Ground. Forest moved into the fourth round to face Grimsby Town, and the win became an early step in the 1958-59 FA Cup campaign that ended with a 2-1 victory over Luton Town at Wembley.
