Victory at Spurs in 7-goal thriller
On this day in Nottingham Forest history in 1957 Forest beat Tottenham Hotspur 4–3 in a seven-goal away thriller.
Forest produced a wild First Division away win by beating Tottenham Hotspur 4–3 at White Hart Lane.
Spurs led 2–0 early through Tommy Harmer and Johnny Brooks before Tommy Wilson headed Forest back into the match before half-time. Stewart Imlach and Billy Gray then put Forest in front after the interval, with Gray’s goal helped by a deflection off Jim Iley.
Terry Medwin made it 3–3, but Johnny Quigley was credited with Forest’s fourth goal to complete the comeback. The win gave Forest both First Division points from a seven-goal match away to Spurs.
The scoreline gives the occasion its lasting shape. It was not a trophy-winning day or a final, but it was the sort of away win supporters remember because it carried seven goals and a dramatic comeback at Spurs.
