Second Division champions
On this day in 1907 Forest complete their Second Division title-winning season.
Nottingham Forest completed their Second Division title-winning campaign with a 3-1 win over Lincoln City at the City Ground.
The result rounded off a successful league season and confirmed Forest as champions of the second tier. After competing in a demanding 38-match campaign, Forest finished top and earned promotion back to the First Division.
The final match gave the season a fitting finish. Forest beat Lincoln at home, giving supporters at the City Ground a title-winning occasion to mark the club’s return to the top level of English football.
This was one of the important rebuilding moments in Forest’s early league history. The club had already won the FA Cup in 1898, but league success carried a different meaning: consistency across a full season.
The 1906-07 Second Division title showed Forest’s ability to recover, regroup and climb again. It remains one of the club’s lower-league championship honours.
