Fawaz takeover completed
On this day in 2012 the Al-Hasawi family complete their Forest takeover.
The Al-Hasawi family completed their takeover of Nottingham Forest at a time when the club was searching for direction after the death of Nigel Doughty.
The deal brought new ownership and immediate attention to the City Ground. Forest had been through a difficult period emotionally and competitively, and the takeover promised change after months of uncertainty.
There was hope, curiosity and caution around what the new era would bring. New owners often arrive with ambition, but supporters also knew that ownership change could reshape a club quickly, for better or worse.
The years that followed were turbulent, with managerial changes and uneven results becoming part of the story. Even so, the takeover remains a significant date because it marked a clear break in modern Forest history and began one of the club’s most unsettled ownership chapters.
